Ya está disponible para su descarga la última versión de Ubuntu: Precise Pangolin. Todos los que tengáis la anterior podéis instalar esta nueva a través del Gestor de Actualizaciones.
Las principales novedades llegan a nivel de Unity, que Canonical ha querido pulir y mejorar de cara a la usabilidad general del sistema. También se han eliminado por completo por defecto las librerías Mono y sobre todo la inclusión de HUD, una herramienta que tiene sus raíces en el famoso Quicksilver de OS X u otros lanzadores de aplicaciones como Launchy en Windows y que nos permite realizar algunas de las acciones más comunes, tanto a nivel de abrir aplicaciones como de ejecutar acciones dentro de ellas utilizando únicamente el teclado.
Podemos aplicar una acción específica, controlar la música, visitar el historial del navegador, cambiar nuestro estado de disponibilidad en el cliente de mensajería isntantánea… Precise Pangolin no es una actualización crítica de Ubuntu ni trae cambios drásticos, como en su día fue la inclusión de Unity, pero por supuesto sí que está recomendada para todos aquellos que uséis Oneiric Ocelot o alguna de las anteriores.

Me harto de repetir lo mismo. CyanogenMod es una de las ROMs cocinadas más conocidas y valoradas por los usuarios. Y muchos son los que dicen que es mejor que las propias ROMs desarrolladas por las fabricantes. Ahora, por fin, la última versión de esta ROM cocinada, CyanogenMod 9, llega al Samsung Galaxy Note. Y es especialmente característico porque esta versión de CyanogenMod es la que se basa en Ice Cream Sandwich, que todavía no ha llegado al Galaxy Note. Por ello, si tienes este móvil híbrido y quieres probar Ice Cream Sandwich ya puedes hacerlo con la versión oficial de CyanogenMod 9 para Samsung Galaxy Note.
La compañía surcoreana tuvo que retrasar el lanzamiento de la última versión del sistema operativo de Google, Ice Cream Sandwich, para el Samsung Galaxy Note. Como compensación, anunciaron que lanzarían un pack de aplicaciones que ampliaría el partido que le sacamos al S-Pen, al puntero o stylus, que lleva incorporado el Note. No obstante, ante el anuncio en marzo del retraso de la actualización, los desarrolladores de CyanogenMod se pusieron manos a la obra para ofrecer a los usuarios la versión definitiva de CyanogenMod 9, basada en Ice Cream Sandwich.
A principio de año ya sacaron la primera versión preliminar, y cinco meses después ya podemos disfrutar de una versión funcional. No obstante, debemos esperar que tenga algunos fallos y bugs, es común y el equipo de desarrollo ya está trabajando en actualizaciones para solucionar esos problemas. Uno de estos errores es el hecho de que no funcione la radio FM, aunque no se espera que se solucione en las próximas versiones.
Entre otras funcionalidades, podemos destacar el soporte para el puntero S-Pen, muy útil en determinadas aplicaciones puesto que nos permite aplicar distintos niveles de presión. En cualquier caso, de momento, CyanogenMod 9 es el mejor método para tener Ice Cream Sandwich en el Samsung Galaxy Note. Todos los manuales de instalación se pueden encontrar en el hilo correspondiente de XDA Developers.
